Gum recession occurs when the tissue around the teeth recede and more and more of the surface of the tooth is exposed. This is a common problem caused by gum disease, bad habits or simple wear and tear. At Justice Dental, we can restore your bright, healthy smile with a simple, innovative surgical technique that can restore your smile in a single appointment.

Gum Recession Is Serious

Gum recession can destroy a great smile and damage your teeth. The condition is usually progressive, meaning it gets worse over time. Eventually, teeth may decay and become sensitive and the bite can become weaker.

Gum Grafting

The traditional solution used to repair gum recession involves an intense surgical procedure in which tissue is cut from the roof of the mouth and grafted onto the area of the gum that has receded. This is a surgical procedure often requiring sedation. There may be bruising involved with significant recovery time required.

The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique Is Now Available At Justice Dental

The Chao Pinhole Surgical® Technique is an innovative alternative to conventional gum grafting, developed by Dr. John Chao.

This revolutionary treatment is only performed by doctors who have completed certification at the Pinhole® Academy. Dr. Chassity Betzing has completed this certification and is actively providing this service to our patients with excellent results.

The state-of-the-art procedure requires no sutures or scalpels. The pinhole technique is a simple approach developed by Dr. John Chao to help patients avoid painful treatments that carry significant recovery times.

When your gums are completely numb and you are comfortable in the dental chair, she will perform the procedure. Using extremely small incisions in your gums, she will insert a special tool under the gumline and gently work your gum tissue back to a healthy position. Once your treatment is complete, you should be able to return to normal activities within 24-48 hours.

Benefits of the Pinhole Technique

  • No scalpels or stitches involved at all
  • Significantly Less time in the dental chair than with grafting
  • Less recovery time compared with traditional gum grafting
  • No need for donor tissue from the roof of the mouth
  • Long-lasting, great-looking results
